Mitko Panov

Panov’s works are featured in collections including MOMA, the Guggenheim Museum, and the Chicago Arts Institute’s - Video Data Bank.  His newly completed film, I Witness, starring Bruno Ganz, Marthe Keller and Padraic Delaney is third in the film trilogy dedicated to the wars in former Yugoslavia.

 

Since 1991, Panov taught Directing at the New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts - Graduate Film Program, The German State School in Munich ( H.F.F. ) and The University of Texas at Austin from which he obtained his professorial tenureship. He is a founding member of New York Film Academy and a creator of its core curriculum.  

 

He is a screenwriter of the Miracle Seller ( 2010, Poland-Sweden-France ) and author of Visual Story Telling – a book on Film Grammar and Film Rhetoric - published in 2014 by the Polish National Film Institute and the Mexican Film Institute.  

 

Over the past two decades he has taught a new generation of film makers including Steven Mc Queen, Joshua Marston, John Hamburg, Malcolm Lee, Florian Gallenberger, Jonathan Jakubovicz and David Riker, to name a few
